Is it really April?

Sometimes, I think Mother Nature needs to get her mood swings in check. The high today was 92 degrees. Holy hot! I will say though, at least it wasn't humid. Tomorrow's temps? Highs in the 60s. I can't really complain though, it's been beautiful. The fire danger is extremely high right now, but it looks like we'll finally be getting some rain this weekend to wet things down a bit.

Morning came early here. K crawled into our bed at 5:30am this morning - but despite the lack of sleep still managed to be in a good mood most of the day. He was thrilled when he remembered today we were going to the library, and decided this time he wanted a ladybug book (The Lazy Ladybug) and a "cow" book (Ox-Cart Man). It will be interesting to see what he picks next week. After that we hid inside from the heat most of the afternoon, then he had fun playing with the twins once they got home from school.

Nothing planned yet for tomorrow, but it will likely be a quiet day around the house, and cool enough to spend a lot of it outside. Perhaps we'll have a picnic in the backyard for lunch, he'll enjoy that. Pictures to come tomorrow when my brain isn't screaming for sleep.

Yet another beautiful day!

Today, Nate is taking Kaiden out fishing for the first time. He's been talking about it non-stop all morning, and is very excited. I'm just glad it's not too buggy out yet. An almost 3 year old covered in mosquito bites does not sound like my idea of fun.

So far, it's been shaping up to be a wonderful spring! Last week we had a couple days with temps in or near the 80s, and tomorrow will be just as warm as well. It's been absolutely gorgeous! Saturday we had a family day out with "Nana", cousin Tyler, and "Papa Jack". It was a beautiful day, hardly a cloud in the sky, and even better since we were enjoying a baseball game. Granted, they wound up losing, but it was still a lot of fun. Kaiden is very much into baseball this year, and really enjoys going to the games. I have a sneaking suspicion the bucket of popcorn he inhales has a lot to do with it too!

After the game was over, he went to Nana's so he could play with Tyler while Nate and I went out for some alone time. Did a little shopping while we were out. Apparently, it's almost impossible to find a decent bucket hat that will fit K's head. I may have to break down and try making one. He did get some new sunglasses though, which he's been wearing every chance he gets.

I'll have some new pictures soon, once I actually get around to taking them off the camera and uploading them! lol

Happiness is...

It is so easy to share when something is going wrong. But how often do we stop and sing when something has gone *right*? I'm just as guilty as the next person. But stop and think, there is always something to be happy for.

Today, happiness is...
Being outside on a sunny spring day.
Spending an evening with my spouse and son at a baseball game.
Knowing that even if today isn't perfect, there is always tomorrow.

Now, it's your turn.

Starting anew...

The snow is melting, the birds are returning, the feeling of spring is in the air. And with it, a sense of renewal. For the first time in perhaps 18 months, I am at a point where my family is back where it should be, the top.

Some of you know I helped found a small animal rescue, and ran the online store for said rescue. The store quickly became a great success, and made things possible for the rescue that may not have been possible otherwise. In recent months sales skyrocketed, and I was inundated with orders. 40 hammocks a week from customs, which meant Kaiden was spending more and more time with Nana or Grammy. Not only was I stressed about completing orders on time, I was no longer able to be a parent to my son - the store was expected to come first.

Two weeks ago I resigned from the rescue. A replacement was found, and the store is planned to re-open later this week. Now I can get back to being what I'm meant to be, a mommy - the best job in the world! And with it, a sense of peace, happiness, and finally, contentment.
