Happy New Year everyone!! I hope ya'll had a safe and happy holiday!
Monday night Nate, Kaiden and I went to a hockey game, followed by indoor fireworks! Kaiden was mesmerized, and despite one meltdown midgame, had a great time!! Of course, our team won 3-0!! :) After the fireworks we came home, where I promptly fell asleep, and missed the ball dropping. Darn!
We started off the new year in quite a SNOWY fashion! After a snowstorm that brought us about 6" new years eve morning, we were greeted to 2008 with ANOTHER storm, which dropped yet ANOTHER foot of the white stuff! Snow is up to the windows, snowbanks in our yard are higher than the cars, and our mailbox has all but disappeared! Winter has just started, and I can't wait for it to be over!

Cookies and snowdays...
It isn't even winter yet, and we've already had about two FEET of snowfall here, with two more storms coming within the next week! Sunday was the most recent storm, leaving almost a foot of snow on the ground. With the crazy wind, it left quite a few interesting snowdrifts!
Here are just a couple pics from Sunday night, I really should go out and get some better ones!
Since we were stuck home all day, it wound up being the perfect day to mix up batter for Christmas cookies. Of course, you can't mix batter without at least baking a *few* for yourself! Chocolate peppermint pinwheels taste mighty yummy on a cold, wintery day!

We're still alive...
No, we haven't fallen off the face of the planet! ;) Things have just been extremely busy around here! Since my last update, LOTS has happened!
Kaiden is now not only toddling, he's practically running everywhere! He loves reading, and is constantly bringing me books to read to him. Today, I think I read "It's not easy being big" about 10 times! His vocabulary is expanding, and he understands pretty much anything you say to him. He loves the Christmas tree, and now that he's pulled off all the ornaments withing reach, he anxiously waits every day for me to turn on the tree lights. When I turn them on, he'll just sit there for a minute chattering about and to the tree, and exclaiming about the pretty lights. He's gotten to be such a big boy in the past few months, he looks so grown up now! Looking at old pictures makes me miss those baby days.
Next Monday Nate and I celebrate our 4 year anniversary! I'm not sure what, if anything, we'll be doing, from the sounds of the weather we'll be spending the day shoveling! Today was his last day of class! Believe it or not, he will *finally* be graduating college!
In October, a couple other ladies and myself founded a rat/small animal rescue! We've already been inundated with rats needing new homes, mostly due to a large rescue situation from up north. Unknown to us, almost every female from that rescue was pregnant, and we wound up with over 120 rats including all the pups! We still have a lot of rats available, so be sure to check us out and spread the word! I'm in charge of running the store, which is a lot of work, but also fun at the same time. Mainely Rat Rescue, for anyone interested!
And if running a store while chasing after a toddler wasn't enough, I've been busing sewing lately as well! I'm doing trades with a couple mamas I know from online message boards. I'm making a bunch of diapers for them, and LOVING how they're coming out! One of the mom's has girls, so it's really fun being able to sew girly things for once. Here is a preview of a couple of the diapers I've just done.
In other news, we finally got a "real" couch!! Nice full size couch, complete with matching storage ottoman! It was a wonderful early Christmas gift from Nate's mom Trish. :)
Winter has come early here for once! We've already had one storm with a foot of snowfall, a couple smaller ones as well. Tomorrow into Friday we're getting another 2-4", then Sunday we're supposed to be getting a big ol' nor'easter! I think, for the first time I can remember in recent history, we will actually be having a white Christmas!

Good weather, good friends!
Today was the first truly beautiful day we've had this year. It was sunny out, with just a little breeze, and nice and warm - about 70F! This definitely makes up for the 15+ inches of snow we've had just this month! It's supposed to be just as nice tomorrow, and near 80F on Monday! What a great weekend to clean up after the big storm we had this week! We were without power for two days, but thankfully the basement didn't even get damp, impressive considering we had over 5" of rain!
Considering the nice weather, and the large amount of brush we need to burn from having 5 large pines removed recently, we thought it would be a great chance to have a BBQ and bonfire. We invited a bunch of friends and family, and had a great day of it! Nate manned the grill, we had dogs and burgers of course, and some really good bbq chicken and ribs with homemade bbq sauce. Yum!
We managed to clear some of the brush, and got about half of the yard raked up. All in all, a very productive day, and so much fun! Spending the day with a bunch of friends, with good food and good weather. Can't get better than that!

It IS April, right?
I think someone forgot to give Mother Nature the memo announcing April! We've been blessed with near 60 degree weather recently, but it's been below normal lately - in the 30s! We had a nasty snow storm Thursday, and were without power for 12 hours. We're one of the lucky ones though, there are still a lot that are without power even now! There's a chance we may be getting another storm in the near future, hopefully it will pass by!
We're all battling colds right now. Nate has the sniffles, and had a sore throat yesterday. I've got a sore throat, congested nose, and my sinuses feel like they're going to explode! Kaiden has his first "real" cold, thankfully it's not horrible, but he does feel yucky. Hopefully we're feeling better for Easter!
Easter day, I'm going to Mom's with K, and Nate will be cooking dinner here. Once it's ready, he's bringing it to Mom's, and we're doing Easter dinner there. Trish will be coming, and possibly Grampy and my Gram. I guess we'll see when Sunday comes! We're also doing an egg hunt for the twins, and Nate will be doing a scavenger hunt for his birthday present, since his birthday is Monday.
Kaiden's Easter basket is all ready to go, though I'm not sure if we'll do it here or at Mom's. He's getting Goodnight Moon, a bunny plush toy, and a bunch of wooden toys from Oompa. I can't wait to give them to him! The "filling" is green shredded paper, and the basket itself is a wicker basket - all recyclable!
Hope everyone is doing well, and I'll do my best to update more often!

Got milk?
For those that don't know, I've been teaching Kaiden some baby signs. Ok, so I've been teaching him ONE sign, but, I plan on doing more... He knows up, and has been doing that for a while now. Today, he signed "milk"! Not once, not twice, but almost all day when he wanted to eat!! I'm so proud!
An additional bonus tonight, some recent pics of Mr. K!
Showing off his cool new duds! An amber teething necklace from a recent co-op, a bumGenius bamboo fitted diaper in twilight, and a pair of Babylegs I received as a gift!

Last but not least... Enjoying a snow day!
